The Mighty Murray river – the heart of Mildura
No visit to Mildura would be complete without a Murray River Paddleboat Cruise, all our packages include a Murray River Cruise with Mildura Paddle Steamers. Paddle Steamers operate three boats including the PS Melbourne which is still driven by her original steam engine.
A comprehensive live commentary is provided, providing an educational insight on the Murray Darling River system and their environs, and the history of the paddleboats. Air-conditioned, heated, all weather boat.

This World Heritage site is one of Mildura’s hidden Gems, Mungo Lady and Mungo man are the earliest human remains found in Australia, dating back 42,000 years. Our ground and air tours include return flights to Mungo, scenic flight over the Lunette, cooked breakfast at Mungo Lodge and a comprehensive ground tour. You will learn about some of the earliest human life on earth, aboriginal culture and early European settlers living in an isolated, inhospitable conditions. The incredible landscapes provide unique landscapes for fantastic photographs.
The tour also includes a nursery talk where guides explain how to successfully grow citrus trees at home, how to select good quality fruit and answer the many questions that you may have on citrus. The tour concludes with a mini processing display and a demonstration of a very unique orange peeler which visitors can purchase. Visitors have the opportunity to take in the magnificent views over the expanse of citrus and grapevines of the district from the Orange World Look Out Tower.
Many of Mildura’s attractions are found along the river, probably not surprising as Mildura was established as an irrigation colony in 1887. You can explore the history of Australia’s first irrigation colony along the Chaffey Trail. This self-guided tour includes Rio Vista Historic House, (open daily from 10am to 5pm) Lock Island and Psyche Pumps / King’s Billabong. Psyche Bend Pump Station was built in 1891 by the Chaffey brothers, the original triple-expansion steam engine pumps can be seen here. (Open Tuesday & Thursday from 1pm to 4pm and Sundays 10:30am to 12pm.)

Mildura is renowned for its great local food and wine, enjoy dining at one of our may restaurants and cafes. “Feast Street” precinct, is right around the corner from the Mildura Grand, here you will find a variety of restaurants including Stefano’s, The Bistro, Rendezvous, Mildura Brewery, Thai-Riffic, Pizza Café, Curry & Tandoor and may other great places to eat.
Mildura is easy to get to by road or air with direct flights available from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Broken Hill and connecting flights from all other capital cities and international destinations. (Check out the airline links below)

Other things to do
Perfect for a leisurely stroll along the river, from the Marina Dockside Cafe to Lock Island is about 2.5 km each way. Enjoy fantastic river views as you walk along the river bank, Nowingi Place, the Wharf, Badger Bates Mosaic and Rock Sculpture, Charles Sturt Marker, Jaycee Park, the Weir and Lock 11.
Not surprisingly with our wonderful climate Mildura has several top golf courses, including Riverside Golf Club, Mildura Golf Resort and The House of Golf Sunraysia Golf Range. Also located nearby are Merbein, Coomealla, Red Cliffs and Wentworth Golf Clubs.
Australian Inland Botanical Gardens
Just across the river about 5kms from Buronga the gardens are open to the public every day from 10.00am – 4.30pm. It is also is home to a wide range of bird-life, including rare species not found anywhere else.
The Mildura region produces more than one fifth of Australia’s wine grape harvest, wine has been produced here since the 1800’s. Local Wineries with Cellar Doors include; Cappa Stone Wines, Chateau Mildura, Nursery Ridge Estate Wines, Oak Valley Estate, Sunraysia Cellar Door and Trentham Estate.
About 30 minute drive from Mildura is the town of Wentworth; here the Murray and Darling Rivers meet. Along the river front at Wentworth there is a lookout tower, picnic areas and children’s play park. Other attractions at Wentworth include Perry Sand Hills and the Wentworth Gaol.
